Bernie Jean Schiebeling (she/they) is a queer writer who earned her MFA at the University of Kansas and now writes about uncanny experiences, family histories, and brief moments of comfort. Her stories have appeared in The Deadlands, The Future Fire, and Reckoning, and her novella, House, Body, Bird, is forthcoming at Psychopomp. 

Along with their traditionally-published work, Bernie posts zines at bernie-jsyk.itch.io and edits scripts for the SF indie podcast Gastronaut. 

In their free time, Bernie enjoys reading, overanalyzing media, baking messy desserts, and occasionally sewing a bunch of plush frogs. They live in the southeastern US with their husband and their black cat, Mochi.
